Discover the Off The Hook Story

Indianapolis Native Michael Warren, Jr., has always had a knack for all things culinary. While growing up on Indy’s Eastside with his parents and sister, Warren began experimenting with food and quickly found a passion for preparing fried fish. Following his graduation from Lawrence Central High School, Warren bounced around to several different jobs before zeroing in on a career as a CDL Class A Truck Driver. The desire to create great food just wouldn’t leave Michael’s soul, so after 7 years of driving trucks, he took the leap towards working for himself. 

 

Michael’s then girlfriend and now wife, Tiffani, constantly encouraged him to flex his culinary muscles. One night during a Family Game function, Michael prepared his special fried fish recipe and it was the hit of the event. Pleasing the tough food critics in his family was just the spark he needed to parlay his skills into a full blown business. This was the moment that Off The Hook Fish and More was born!

Following these events, Michael and Tiffani began pulling the pieces together that would become their distinctive Green and Orange truck by purchasing much of their equipment back in 2013. They continued to work their full time jobs as they prepared to have the truck inspected. To help this effort move along, Michael and Tiffani were blessed to receive the labor of their friend Jon Whitsel, who completed all of the plumbing, electric, painting, engine work, and appliance installation. Over the next 3 years, the couple would continue working towards their goal of opening the truck for business. During this time, Michael and Tiffani received contributions from friends and family to help them achieve their dream. Michael's mother Joyce and  her husband Michael Murff invested with start-up capital, cousin Katrina Powell offered a nightly home for the truck, and family friends Josh and Rebecca Toney provided childcare and other forms of support. 

In 2016, they were able to open the truck on Weekends, and soon decided to make Off The Hook Fish and More a full time venture. Tiffani stepped up to the plate and joined Michael in the business full time, as they both submitted two week notices to their jobs in June of 2017.

Now, The Warrens travel throughout Central Indiana, providing customers with excellent service and their huge, filling portions. On any given day, you'll find folks lined up to get a taste of Off The Hook's perfectly seasoned Whiting, delectable Fried Shrimp, and craveable Waffle Fries. Whether you're interested in a great lunch, a filling dinner, or if you're looking to treat your family or group to the best catered meal they've ever had, Off The Hook will make you a believer!
